You've already seen the Suggest for Eamon Espey at the Hugo House tonight, but there are so many recommended events that I have to tell you about some more of them.

First off, it's time for one of my favorite regular events in Seattle, the Movable Type Literary Mixer at Vermillion. These are always a great time. The way it works is: Bring the book you're reading to the bar. Buy a drink. Talk to other people about the books they brought, and tell them about the book you're reading. Drink some more. Go. Have fun. Don't be shy.

Black Coffee Co-op is hosting an evening called "Books for Inmates!" tonight. This is an event to bring books to men and women who are incarcerated in King County Jail, which has not had a library since 2007. If you attend tonight, you'll hear work from poets Hamda Yusuf, Michael Hood, and Scott Yeager, as well as musicians Led to Sea and Kaia Chessen.

Fuminori Nakamura is reading at the Panama Hotel at 7 pm. Nakamura's The Thief is a crime/thriller novel that was recently named a finalist for the 2013 Los Angeles Times Book Prize. This event is for both English and Japanese speakers.

At Benaroya Hall, poet Nikky Finney is reading. If you'd like to sample her work, you should start with "The Aureole," which you can read for free over at the Poetry Foundation.

There's so much more going on tonight, too, including a reading on the afternoon ferry to Bainbridge, a fundraiser for the Hugo House, and a couple other events including a reading for a coffee table book/field guide titled Your Ticket to the Universe : A Guide to Exploring the Cosmos at Ravenna Third Place Books. it's an embarrassment of riches, I tell you. Visit the readings calendar for more information about everything.
