The Thursday Morning News (UPDATE: It Is Not Actually Thursday)

Posted by on Wed, Mar 20, 2013 at 8:05 AM

Greet Him as a Liberator: On our 10-year anniversary week of the Iraq war, why not thank the man responsible? Here's George W. Bush's personal e-mail address.

Our Rotting Crap: Seattle will ship 100,000 tons a year of its compost waste to scenic Kittitas County.

A Human Piece of Shit: Wearing a "killer" shirt into the courtroom, a convicted school shooter told the victims' families, "The hand that pulls the trigger that killed your sons now masturbates to the memory."

WA's New Pot Czar vs. WA's New Pot Czar: Yesterday I criticized Washington State's new chief marijuana consultant for saying legalization was unworkable a couple years ago, back when Prop 19 was on the California ballot. In accepting his new position here yesterday, Mark Kleiman backpedalled on his blog by distinguishing between the two states:

Prop. 19 was very poorly designed, with local-option taxation promising a race to the bottom. The result would have been to flood the country with cheap pot, unless the feds stepped in with massive enforcement, and the feds weren’t going to hold still for that.

The Washington law is much more carefully drafted, with heavy taxation at the state level. Their problem may be, not exports because legal pot is so cheap, but a continued illicit market in Washington because legal pot is so expensive. That gives the federal government good reasons to let the experiment run. Of course Washington State will have to make its policies with due regard to what’s likely to happen in Washington, DC, but it’s possible that an accommodation could be reached.

Grab Your Pitchforks! Then go read Cienna's story on a Catholic hospital that called the cops on someone for legal pot possession.

Michelle Shocked Is Shocked: Her "God hates fags" comment was misunderstood or something. She says she is "neither against a woman's right to choose nor gay marriage." Uh huh.

Metro Will Delay New Rapid Ride Buses: Two new routes on the novelty known as Rapid Ride—which is a coach wearing a red hat that creeps through the city just like all the other buses but is being passed of as a substitute for a real transit system—will be deferred. Everyone should follow Rapid Ride on Twitter.

Seattle's Number Two Bigot: Gary Randall, the city's second most hateful icon after anti-gay Catholic Archbishop J. Peter Sartain, is hopping mad that the GOP is appealing to non-bigots. "They are marching toward moral madness, and they're insisting we join the parade," he stomps and whines.

Ain't No Sunshine... Suntech, the world's largest solar panel manufacturer, filed for bankruptcy due to a slump in the solar industry.

Time for More Hippie Shit! Do you have "scrambled energy" or a "scrambled force field"? Donna Eden is "going to unscramble your force field."

Maybe the first time I've considered the punishment of chopping off a hand justifiable.

About Shocked, who was it who had that great remark the other day about how you know shit is going bad when the strongest support for you is someone hoping you're just suffering a mental breakdown?

Dominic Holden's idea of "the news" is making a list of people to hate.

Either he's found a way to block incoming emails, or that isn't his address. Shame.

Explain to me again why capital punishment is always bad? That SOB should already be hanging from a tree.

@10 "Explain to me again why capital punishment is always bad?"

Because it is too expensive to get it right and we get it wrong too often anyway?

@12 cause decades in solitary is actually a much crueler thing to do to him, if that's what you're after. Lasts a lot longer and destroys a person just as thoroughly

I forgive Shocked. Religion can cause psychotic episodes in some people.

Yup (@12), exactly. And don't worry, @11, someone will be butt-fucking him to kingdom come. Much more appropriate punishment for a kid like this.

If we prevent psychotic killers from access to military assault weapons, the communists win.

Or perhaps it was the boogie man who wins.

Which is scary, I don't want the boogie man to destroy America. That is obviously a clear & present danger.

Shipping garbage by rail - surprisingly, this was one of the arguments used to justify shipping coal by train through Seattle.

But, metrics show Seattle garbage per capita is DECREASING.

@15 I hear the Boogie Man lives inside Cadbury Chocolate Eggs. So just give them to me and I'll take care of the problem.

Nom. Nom. Nom.
