What Do You Think of the Bling Ring Trailer?

Posted by on Fri, Mar 8, 2013 at 11:23 AM

The new trailer for Sofia Coppola's movie The Bling Ring is officially online. Well, not really "officially." The YouTube trailer that went up on Gawker and Huffington Post was marked as private, and this version seems to have in-house markings that would ordinarily be wiped off the trailer before it's publicly released. But here it is:

And so?

Unless there's more to the narrative than what the trailer suggests, why would I go see a movie about spoiled, bratty Bev Hillians (or West Los Angelenos) when everywhere I go in West Los Angeles, the place if FULL of them throwing money around like it's just so much toilet paper. No, thanks.

Could this be the satire that hits the heights Spring Breakers failed to achieve? The trailer doesn't suggest satire... rather reality. It seems reality has reached such absurdity that it self-satirizes. I pray to the box office scheduling executives that I can view Spring Breakers and Bling Ring as a double header at the theaters.

As a straight man, I will see the film in the lascivious hope that there is more of what occurs at :15.

The font in this trailer honestly reminds me of the font in the trailer for "The Canyons". (I watched the trailer for a class assignment.)

[btw, schmacky, you're straight?]
