US unemployment falls (la dee da): "There are still major issues in the job market, however. The number of long-term unemployed – those jobless for 27 weeks or more – was unchanged in February at 4.8m. These individuals accounted for 40.2% of the unemployed. The unemployment rates for teenagers (25.1%), black people (13.8%), and Hispanics (9.6%) remained high and showed little or no change."

But where is our Hugo Chavez? "What is in fact taking place is economic pillage with the full cooperation and facilitation of Mr. Obama and his administration. From banker bailouts to stolen homes, incarceration for profit, student loan penury, wars for oil, profit extracting sick-care and social insurance cuts, class war was launched and is being fought from above."

Illinois taxpayer dollars at work: "Sangamon County’s re-formed drug team made its first arrests Wednesday, following a search of a suspected drug house in the 300 block of South Livingston Avenue. Braxton Buchanan, 24, and his mother, Michelle Buchanan, 46, both of the 300 block of South Livingston, were arrested. The county’s tactical team served a search warrant about 6 a.m. Inside the house, deputies allegedly found about 400 grams of marijuana, $877 in cash and drug paraphernalia, Sheriff Neil Williamson said."

Happy international women's day: "In accordance with a declaration by the Socialist Party of America, the first National Woman's Day (NWD) was observed across the United States on 28 February. Women continued to celebrate NWD on the last Sunday of February until 1913."

Climate change is here and it's accelerating and it's our fault: "The chances of the world holding temperature rises to 2C – the level of global warming considered 'safe' by scientists – appear to be fading fast with US scientists reporting the second-greatest annual rise in CO2 emissions in 2012."

And because someone mentioned it yesterday in comments, here's the bathroom scene from The American Astronaut:

Concrete beats abstract:

So how is it that the rubes, with their grease-stained hands, reeking of the smell of manure or chemical fertilizers, have outperformed the darlings of the information age? The answer lies largely in the forces that are reshaping the world. This includes, most portentously, rising demand for fuel, food and fiber in developing countries, notably in East Asia and Latin America.

Also in the unemployment report: 200,000 more adults drop out of the workforce.

Under Obama more American'ts drop out of the workforce than find work.

You that. Asswipe.

@8 dude, the Baby Boomers have started to retire.

That number will grow every year until (thinking about it) 2025 to 2030, when it will start to drop, until the equally large python of the X Gen hits around 2040 to 2045.

Get used to it.

Had Chavez created a self-sustaining economy by nationalizing oil and other industries, one could applaud him, but instead he simply pulled a left-wing smash-and-grab which simply mimics the right-wing smash-and-grab going on elsewhere. Graft, corruption and croneyism are not magically absent in Venezuela. Chavez was a demagogue who failed to create a new social democracy.

@10

dude, are they immortal?

there should also be old people dying and subtracting from the number of adults not in the workforce.

under Obama and the Democraps more people DROP OUT OF THE WORKFORCE (not 'retire') than find work.

here is your homework: report to Slog the change in the number and percentage of American't collecting disability since Obama took office.

chop chop.

@Kiley, negative, Brendan, the data show that the number of full-time jobs declined, while the number of part-time jobs increased, and that increase was among multiple part-time job holders, again not an increase in people employed, but part-time job holders, per se!

And why the Honorable Senator Elizabeth Warren is the ONLY acceptable presidential candidate:

And now all the investigations have been done, and all the banksters (JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citigroup, etc.) are each individiually responsible for committing millions of felonies in the filing of false affidavits and mortgage foreclosure documents, where are all those retards and gaytards who kept gushing into their panties proclaiming:

????????????????????????????????????

What do you witless fools have to say for yourselves now?

And for some important news:

4, Pfft. Chavez was a piker. Pinoche, Videla, Viola, Galtieri, Garcia & more, these men were "pure evil." Of course, right wing nutjobs like yourself always adored murderous thugs, gleefully licking the blood off their hands and singing over the graves of tortured trade workers, as long as they were right wing nutjobs like yourself.

@13 When I read #10, I thought we should check Will to see if he had been abducted by aliens or some-such given his cogent and compelling argument... Now I know it's just one of those days, as I am going to defend his post.

@13 "dude, are they immortal? there should also be old people dying and subtracting from the number of adults not in the workforce."

The Baby Boomers are so named because there was a surge population growth in their generation. This means that the cohort of older people who should be dying out of retirement to make way is smaller than the cohort retiring.

Add to this advances in medicine, nutrition, etc. and the end result is you're a stupid idiot.
