Man Shot in North Seattle, Suspect on the Loose

Posted by on Fri, Mar 8, 2013 at 3:33 PM

From KING 5 News:

Officers responding to a report of shots fired in a building near N. 80th and Densmore Avenue N. found a 70-year-old man with gunshot wound to the chest just after 2 p.m. Medics transported the man to a hospital; he was listed in critical condition.

Meanwhile, officers were searching for a woman with a gun at the Bitter Lake Community Center and surrounding area. The suspect is described as a white female in her late 40s, wearing a blue stocking cap and beige or Army green jacket. She may be driving a dark SUV.

Seattle Police Department Sgt. Sean Whitcomb said that detectives were investigating the possibility that the incident was a case of workplace violence.

Community centers citywide and nearby schools Broadview Thomson, Bagley Elementary, and Wilson Alternative School are in lockdown.

UPDATE 4:19 p.m.: West Seattle Blog has updates and a picture of the suspect police are looking for.

Obviously we need to ban SUVs, since they are used by criminals to shoot people.

I'm a little confused about what happened where. There's mention of the Bitter Lake Community Center, which is up at 130th, but also the Parks & Rec offices and shop, which is 50 blocks south at 8061 Densmore, just north of Green Lake.

OK, I'm dumb. She shot the guy (who lived) at 80th and Densmore, and then went to Bitter Lake and waved the gun around some more. And now her car is found in Burien, where she may live.

Looks like they just arrested her, according to KOMO.

wow. a woman shooter. we haven't had one of those since the schizophrenic cambodian grandma killed her family.

and, of course, you know, if she hadn't owned a handgun, pretty much all that would have happened is she would have got mad and yelled. now someone's in critical condition and she's fucked.

The one thing that's different and interesting about this is that The Shooter was a woman.

Too bad the victim didn't have his gat when she attacked him.

That would have been awesome street justice...

@7 --Apparently we're still way less trigger-happy - per capita anyhow - than Moses Lake.
