Locked Up

Posted by on Wed, Mar 6, 2013 at 12:28 PM

A urologist assesses the particular health risks faced by men who lock up their cocks in male chastity devices in this week's "Savage Love." Here's one risk he didn't mention: prostate cancer.

The Christianists are going to hit the ceiling about this. Nasty self sex makes one Gay they'll claim. Oh the horror.

This isn't news. If anyone was going to throw a hissy fit, they'd have done it already.

It's not just prostate cancer, it is all prostate infections. Back when my son was young and my wife and I were not finding time, I developed a really bad prostate infection that travelled up to my testicles. I hurt to walk!

Any priest or other figure who claims he is COMPLETELY celebate, including no masturbation, needs to explain how the hell he can walk, not to mention leave the bathroom since prostate infections have the nasty effect of making you constantly feel like you have to urinate!

Show me a guy who doesn't masturbate and I will show you someone who is paralyzed from at least the waist down. It's not a question of "morality." We NEED to ejaculate on a regular basis. If the "Intelligent Design" people are right, then God must have intended men to masturbate and/or have sex on a regular basis!

Coming right on the heels of the death of former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop (which I think Slog completely ignored), it seems appropriate to mention part of the legacy of former Surgeon General M. Joycelyn Elders (who, I hasten to add, is still alive).

If man wasn't meant to jack off, his arms would be a lot shorter. Form follows function.

I just want you to know it seems to be true for women, too. I'm showing absolutely no signs of prostate cancer.

And remember ladies, blow jobs are even better protection against prostate cancer than masturbation.

For your health!

Interesting. The article implies that masturbation is beneficial even without ejaculation.

Though Dan does frequently bring up that sex is the area of life people are most judged for taking risks, and this would be one of them.

Never thought much of keeping all that old sperm in there, myself. Gotta keep the pipes flushed.

I remember about 28 years ago, a male friend who had been raised to try as hard as possible to avoid masturbation and was without a girlfriend at the time, went to the doctor for his annual exam. He came back amazed and jubilant because the doctor, a woman, told him he needed to be ejaculating regularly for health and advised him to masturbate several times a week. For him, this was the permission slip he needed.

@3, that's why men can have wet dreams.

nocute@11, um... I'm going to go think about that scene for a little while... (the one with the hot lady doctor giving sexy advice, not the one where your friend told you about it afterward :-)
