The Chicago Blackhawks Won Again Last Night and Jesus Christ Are they Ever Going to Lose?

Posted by on Tue, Feb 26, 2013 at 12:39 PM

Last night the Chicago Blackhawks came SO CLOSE to breaking their record-breaking points streak. Their game against the Oilers went into overtime, and all the Oilers had to do was put one into the net. Easy peasy. Done deal. But Hossa came in after a bit of a scramble and won the fucking game. Again. The Blackhawks have yet to lose a game in regulation.

I know I was all "LOSE, BLACKHAWKS, LOSE!" But I've changed my mind. I still hate you, Patrick Kane, but now I just want to see this go on forever. It's too cool and ridiculous to hate.

Megan,
I'm a Blackhawk fan. Right now, I could care less about them extending the streak. It would be cool if they could. But, now I just want them to cruise into the playoffs and make the finals. The playoffs are a "second season". All playoff contenders are 0-0 at the beginning. A Stanley Cup is more important to me than a streak now. I think the Hawks believe that. Although, this is most pleasant. I didn't think there would be a season let alone this.

Why be hatin' on Patrick Kane? Dude's got mad skills. He's just a very talented player from blue collar South Buffalo. Vent on a vagabond goon like Carcillo instead.

The Hawks aren't on a record breaking winning streak (their winning streak only stands at 6 games). They are on a record breaking point streak (having not lost a game in regulation yet - they have 3 OTL).

As a Canucks fan it pains me to say that I hope they extend the streak one more game .. but that's just so they can lose to the Blue Jackets (those guys need a boost)

The Blackhawks have lost, 2-1 to the Canucks on February 1. Its just the weird way that the NHL doesn't count an shoot out loss as a loss that they're still (only) technically undefeated.

The Blackshawks ALREADY Lost!

No. No more Blackhawks. I want other teams to win, especially teams that have not yet won the Cup. I would be happy to never hear that damn Chelsea Daggar song ever again.

I thought the record was for consecutive points to start a season. Count me as a Canucks fan who is (i) completely envious of Patty Kane's backhand goal and (ii) worried about the confidence the Kawks are building up.

Why do the Chicago Blackhawks warrant a post on Slog? I can understand why there are posts about the Seattle Seahawks considering they're at least located in Seattle, but what connection do the Blackhawks have to Slog? Seattle doesn't even have an NHL team to compete with them.

I'm not trying to hate on the NHL (I might even be interested in hockey if we ever get a team), I'm just curious.

Okay! Clarified the win vs. points thing. Y'all are right.

And @8, I just really like hockey and post about it sometimes.

They're undefeated in regulation. Also; stupid heads.

My Oilers team was a post away from taking the lead late in the game and maybe breaking the streak...they did not. I swore a lot...

The Blackhawks are a fine team, but I guess I'll be really sold around Stanley Cup time, when and if they play and defeat a team such the Pens, whose firepower will really test Crawford and or a team such the Bruins, with 3/4 big strong forward lines who can grind that will test the ability of the Hawks to win the battles on the wall and some center ice thugging.
