The Sweet Story of A Seattle Artist's Ballerina Mother and Her Lover, Cantinflas

Posted by on Fri, Feb 22, 2013 at 1:21 PM

The lovers.
  • Courtey of Ellen Ziegler
  • The lovers.

I like what Ellen Ziegler is doing with a chapter from her mother's past, and how she is doing it.

Whoa! What a story! Cantinflas is the soul of Mexico; he's like Charlie Chaplin, if everybody in America still watched Charlie Chaplin every day. I never heard this story, and never saw these magnificent photos. Thank you for this.

The story is considerably fleshed out beyond the bare bones of the Kickstarter page by Googling "miriam golden ballet" (there's a different Miriam Golden at UCLA in the political science dept.) and reading the Wikipedia page on Cantinflas.

Fnarf has got it. Yes, he is the Charlie Chaplin of Mexico. For a fine outline of the story: http://jeanlenihan.com/2013/02/19/buried…
