As a person who has never operated a curling iron and has no understanding of how it can go wrong...what just happened? Ok, obviously her hair burnt off but how did she fuck up?

Nice. I was hoping for a full-on open flame, but you can't have everything.

@2: I've operated a curling iron once or twice in my day and am certainly no expert, but I believe you're supposed to start at the tips and work your way up.

@2 - if you have fine hair and a really, really hot iron, you can burn your hair pretty badly. I've never seen it burn right off before, but then I have coarse hair and don't have to worry about this shit. I've seen some bad scorchings, though.

...I've done exactly what she just did many times, and never had my hair burn off. Iron too hot?
