And if I had to listen to Lindsey Graham whine on and one with that voice for more than 3 seconds, I'd shoot myself.
Good to see McCain's true colors showing. When I mistakenly volunteered for his campaign back in high school, I got to see his temper and pettiness up close. He's so full of shit - and himself - its a wonder anyone can be in the same room with him.

Hey, give me a commenting system with an edit button (Facebook, Disqus, ...) and problems solved.

Seems like SLOG and Seattle Transit Blog are the last stand.

Interesting article on Positively Republican.

IS THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ON THE ROPES? IS IT AS BAD AS THEY SAY IT IS?

Check out my response in the comments!

@3 - he didn't say wouldn't be allowed on, he said wouldn't go on. So you're point rings a little hollow. How do you get from "wow, Stewart really stuck it to McCain!" to "Obama has a kill list and drones." ?

It's time for Republicans to go. They are irresponsible, hypocritical and incompetent. And their phoney anger is a waist of valuable time.

I think Jon Stewart is one of the most intelligent and astute commentators - satirical or not - on US TV. However, I don't understand why he has to constantly shout. It makes the show unwatchable despite the content.

@16, sometimes baffled outrage is the only possible response, and the only possible expression is shouting.

@9, it figures that you of all people would be the first person in the universe to say something positive about Disqus. It would be terrific on Slog, if you like having your posts disappear and reappear at random intervals, swallow random words and paragraphs, change the display order randomly, etc. Disqus is even stupider than fuel cells or Paul Ryan, other favorites of yours.

@15 the bulk of the food stamp users are in the red states/counties. The blue states/counties are the ones supporting the red states/counties. Yet despite this, the red states/counties keep voting GOP. It would be nice to cut them off for awhile so they might appreciate how much we support them, but since the GOP is incapable of reason/logic, it'd be impossible for them to see cause/effect in action. Consequences have no meaning in their world - only piling the lies higher and higher while Faux Snews dutifully repeats the bullshit.

@ 16, it's a parody of Fox News programs. It wouldn't work if he was playing the mild 'n' meek milquetoast liberal angle (which, BTW, is the way the hard right likes their liberals, which is how Alan Colmes got to be their only leftish talking head).

@23: I would say there are several more leftish talking heads than Alan:
Dennis Kucinich
Bob Beckell
Kristen Powers
Juan Williams
Susan Estrich
Mara Laiason
Marc Lamont Hill

By all means, feel free to argue their "leftish" purity. Obviously you hardly ever watch Fox. Can you list all the "rightish" talking heads at MSNBC or CNN?

@19 I've started thinking that red states hate social welfare programs BECAUSE they need them. I think receiving charity (esp. when it comes from people one suspects of condescension) can make people bitter. It makes more sense than the idea that they haven't noticed that they use social welfare programs.

@28: Sigh, I'll do a few and you can search the rest. Dennis Kucinich is a former U.S. House Representative D, from Ohio. Bob Beckel was Mondale's campaign manager, Susan Estrick was Dukakis's campaign manager.

I've said it many times: the Republicans' entire ethos boils down to "No. Because we don't like the President. Because he's a nigger." And if any alleged Republican doesn't use that wording verbatim, they're not honest. Not to say that's unusual among today's Republicans.

Is it me or is the Republican Party becoming not only more blatantly hypocritical but more child-like? Graham, McCain, Jindal etc. seem to be literally petulant and prone to temper tantrums and petty grudges and shouting over one's enemy rather than making a more cogent argument? At this point McCain just seems to need a nap.
BTW, did anybody else flash on The Simpsons' Maude Flanders during the McCain Meet The Press interview segment: "The children, oh PLEASE won't you think of the children!" except with "4 dead Americans" instead of "children".
@35: Word.

Thank Goodness that McCAIN/Palin fell by the wayside in 2008. I cannot imagine them anywhere close to the White House.

Interesting that McCain was okay with Hagel in 2008 and even wanted him in his cabinet had the American people lost their minds and voted for him. But now all of a sudden Hagel is untouchable.
