Carter's grandson, James Earl Carter IV, torpedoed Romney with the 47 percent video....
I don't think Romney was ever going to win that race, but the 47 percent video made certain failure even more than certain. As for Jimmy Carter, he is crowding his 80s. These American presidents sure know how to live.

So, now we know who was the first political acquirer of the video. We still don't know who shot it in the first place.

The video didn't do it. The fact that Romney said it sealed his doom. Based on the fact that he believed it. In a way this feeds into the idea that all the Republicans need to do is change how they package their message, rather than actually change.
The only shocker in the video was that Romney told the truth for once. Nobody on the left, right or middle thought Romney ever said what he really believed even in private.

Carter, I believe, set the record not too long ago as the longest-lived former President.
He set the record a long time ago as Most Effective Out of Office.
(Not by a huge margin, though. Herbert Hoover was at least a close second, both pre- and post-election: between his political and engineering skills, he was the only foreigner ever offered a seat in the British Cabinet, and went on to do seriously good work for the UN on world hunger. Third place would probably go to William Howard Taft, who was apparently far better - and happier - in the job he really wanted, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, than as President.)

You say that in the pejorative, but Romney was right.
47% of Americans need government to GIVE them something, and that’s what the Dems do. Give, give, give (and take, take, take guns and taxes). Therefore the 47% automatically vote for the person who is perceived to be the giver-of-swag.
The proper role of government is to set the conditions for our happiness, not PROVIDE happiness, which is up to us individually.

GeneStoner my mother in law is on food stamps and disability. Votes Republican every year. Please try not to use false sweeping terms. Everyone votes for their own reasons. Those reasons do not have to make sense to anyone except the person voting.
