Guess Who Just Called the City Council "Terrorists"?

Posted by on Wed, Feb 20, 2013 at 3:44 PM

If you follow Slog, you probably already know the answer!

Today the Seattle City Council held a hearing on surveillance cameras—Cienna has a post on the way—but there is something that must not wait. Sources at City Hall confirm that the person in this West Seattle Blog report is indeed the intellectual giant running for council known as Sam Bellomio:

Third speaker from Stand Up America says that he is concerned about terrorists – “the terrorists sitting at (the council) table.” He accuses the government of terrorism and “ridiculous behavior.” He adds, basically shouting, “You guys are eroding our civil rights … don’t stand against the people, stand up for the people.” Councilmember Harrell has accused him of a “showboating tactic” after the speaker called him “a criminal.”

What a winner.

Part of me wants that guy to win. It'll give Slog one more fun thing to talk about, at least for a while.

Subverts a popularly elected Mayor.

Forced city into little wanted budget busting tunnel plan.

Ruins neighborhoods with hated pro density schemes.
Uh huh

Under guise of "transit" spends 5 times the money over 3 times the years to build something one fourth the size of what other cities have.
Sure, why not.

Sounds..pretty terror-bil to me.

Again, if this were unique testimony from him, it might be meaningful, given the topic. But when you consider that he calls elected officials terrorists and criminals at almost every meeting--even at the most innocuous meetings--it's a little different.

Yeah, Bellomio might fancy himself a colorful character, but anyone who's been here for a while knows that unless you drive around with your dead dog's ashes in the trunk of your car, you'll never make it as a real West-Seattle-fringe-politician in this town.

You know, Showboat was a great play.

When I was a kid, it was fun singing in the performance, and one of my black "uncles" had a great baritone that made the hall ring.
