Seattle Times Urges Lawmakers to Spend Nothing on K-12 Education

Posted by on Tue, Feb 12, 2013 at 3:08 PM

Um...

WASHINGTON lawmakers should repeal the never-implemented paid-family-leave law.

Because...

The state should focus its limited resources on higher priorities, such as the state Supreme Court mandate for more education funding.

So if I'm reading this editorial correctly, the Seattle Times is urging lawmakers to repeal a never-implemented, unfunded paid-family-leave law so that they can focus these same nonexistent resources on education. Yup, that pretty much describes the Republican approach to McCleary.

"Non existent resources," you say? Last time I looked, the city was giving Chris Hansen and his bondholders $350 million for an arena, committing multi-billions for pointless light rail and street cars, starting in on a billion-dollar waterfront, and digging a tunnel at five times the cost of repairing the viaduct. Not to mention the various slush funds McGinn uses for whatever study he wants to order up.

There's no lack of resources. True, they've been committed elsewhere, but Goldy and his fellow nutcases have been all in favor of most of it. Ya makes yer choices, as they say.
