SL Letter of the Day: The Thought Counts

Posted by on Wed, Jan 30, 2013 at 4:45 PM

I work in an engineering office in Canada. Several of our engineers are members of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA), a group legally mandated to regulate the profession. They put out a magazine every couple months. A magazine they call "PEG." Fair enough, given the acronym. However the cover for the December 2012 issue made me laugh out loud. It's enclosed.

Love your column and podcast!

All The Best

The December 2012 cover of PEG... after the jump.

Thanks for sharing, ATB—and thank you, PEG, for all those great roads and bridges in Alberta. My family drives up every winter to go snowboarding and so far—knock wood—not once has an Albertan bridge collapsed under us. Much appreciated!

Wait, he included a weblink in his letter? It must be an email. All this time I wanted to have the romantic vision of SL Letters being actual handwritten letters. "SL Email of the Day" just doesn't have that folksy sound to it that Dan may want to convey.

Goodness gracious, great balls of fire under the phallic tree. Nice boxes too.

Funny how pegging is one of those things you can either give or receive, but not both. Unless you get a sex change in between. Wait, is it pegging if a man uses a strap on on someone?

Snowboarding, Dan? Sheeesh. I hope at least that you're a _polite_ snowboarder. Too many of them are waaay inconsiderate (read: dangerous) on the slopes.

@9 Really? It's not a "snowboarders" vs "skiers" issue.

It's an "assholes who think they own the mountain" vs "courteous people who are aware of their surroundings" issue.

You're phrasing leads me to believe you are of the former variety.

Ugh! The dreaded "Your" typo! My bad!

@10 There are bad/dangerous skiers too. I'm not saying "all skiers are good, all boarders are bad." Not at all. But there are a HECK of a lot more asshole boarders than skiers. It's just part of the culture.

And it depends on what mountain you're at, too. Different places have different vibes.
