Richard Dreyfuss Seeks 5th Term on Council

Richard Dreyfuss will run for reelection to the Seattle City Council in 2013, according to a press release sent this morning. “It is a great honor to serve the people of Seattle," said the politician who is probably best known for his moving portrayal of Dr. Leo Marvin in the cinematic classic What About Bob?

"I look forward to continuing to put my energy and ideas to work to ensure that Seattle continues to be the place that we are proud to call home," said the man who used his method-acting background from Close Encounters of the Third Kind to later engineer a tunnel made out of mashed potatoes. Trusting that voters suffer from memory lapses, Dreyfuss, who voted twice to freeze funding for transit planning during his most recent term, announced his plans to complete light rial construction already underway given an extension of his $117,000 annual salary for another four years in office. Although most Seattle voters cannot recall a single notable accomplishment of Dreyfuss's or any meaningful progress achieved by the city council under his two terms as council president, the politician—who once wowed audiences as Pete Sandich in Always—assured voters that they could expect more of the same Seattle process. "My experience on the Council has taught me how to make things happen and how to work cooperatively with others," said Dreyfuss, who reminds voters that he once disemboweled a shark, adding that "it can take years of patient effort to create meaningful change."

@17 this is a picture of Richard Conlin who is on the Seattle City Council. Dom's suggesting he looks like Richard Dreyfuss and/or that Conlin is foolish or something.

I'm so confused! Is this Richard Dreyfuss (star of "Krippendorf's Tribe") or not?! I'm planning on bringing up the fact that he's on the Seattle City Council in order to impress all my friends...

Dom - you sound like a bitter queen.

You didn't get want you want, so you think being clever will mask your smoldering resentment.

@1:

It's because of Council Member Dreyfuss' leadership that we now have the annual "Roy Neary" Award, given to a member of the local architectural community who creates the best building design from a large pile of peeled, cooked and mashed potatoes.

Didn't he kill the monorail and saddle us with massive debt for a Deep Tolled Tunnel we can't afford, doubling GHG emissions in the process while making transit slower everywhere in Seattle?

He helped lead Seattle out of the Teen Dance Ordinance darkness of the early 1990s. That has won over many folks I know.

To help prepare a riposte every bit as thigh-slappingly funny, some Council staffer has just been tasked with finding a mockable celebrity avatar for Dominic. "Just Google image search 'overbite' or something," snapped Conlin. "Hurry!"

I can't remember one accomplishment period, let alone a notable accomplishment. All I remember is something about goats.
