Want Neil Gaiman to Teach You How to Write?

Posted by on Wed, Jan 16, 2013 at 1:03 PM

Clarion West is an "intensive six-week workshop for writers preparing for professional careers in science fiction and fantasy." It's an absolute local treasure, and it's one of the major reasons why Seattle is a science-fiction powerhouse. This year's class looks like it could be one of the best in Clarion West's history. Check out the list of professors:

Elizabeth Hand
Neil Gaiman
Joe Hill
Justina Robson
Ellen Datlow
Samuel R. Delany

So that's a list that includes the popular and talented son of Stephen King, a living sci-fi legend, one of the best editors in the genre, and one of the most popular fantasy authors in the business today. I don't know how you could get a better six-week education. The class runs from June 23 to August 2, and the deadline for applications is March 1. You can apply right here.

OMG I want to be a writer just so I can take the damn class and meet two of my favorite authors. Going to have to stalk Joe Hill's twitter feed so I can get me an autograph. :)

Samuel R. Delany? No shit. That was some groundbreaking writing 30-40 years ago. Sadly, I haven't read anything he's written recently.
