Marco's Choice

Posted by on Wed, Jan 16, 2013 at 12:15 PM

Senator Marco Rubio (R-Floriduh), a 2016 presidential hopeful, quickly dismissed President Barack Obama's gun-control proposals: “Nothing the president is proposing would have stopped the massacre at Sandy Hook," Rubio said in a statement.

Maybe. Maybe not. But here's a little thought experiment for Rubio and his fellow Republicans: Given a choice between banning military-style assault weapons or allowing them in the Capitol galleries, which would they choose? I'm guessing the former.

Of course, it's not really a fair question. The latter would never be allowed. Because assault weapons are fucking dangerous. Which, of course, is the point.

taxation without representation is tyrany, and we, the rest of america, including most of the NRA members are the persons subjecting DC residents to this tyranical rule. Half a million citizens are subject to laws WE make OVER them, they don't get a vote for senator or congress, they do get taxed, drafted, etc.
So, the millions of NRA members apparently think it's okay for THEM to subject other people to tyranical rule. I don't see many NRA members taking out their bushmasters and stopping this tyranical rule over others.

If they want to appeal to angry white guys, this the way. But they tried it and it doesn't work anymore. So this is the first step to see if they are headed down the same road.

If your way to fight tyranny is to make democratically elected officials afraid to get shot; you're the tyrant.

@2 it is a gun free zone. Gun free zones allow for law enforcement and protective services officials to carry.

Maybe law-abiding citizens should be required to carry assault weapons when visiting the House of Representatives. That would keep the bad guys away, right? Right?

Perhaps Rubio would have Obama propose that we go back in time and stop the Newtown shooting from happening?

Goldy, you nothing about firearms. I say this as someone who generally agrees with your politics, but your use of the terms "military-style" and "assault weapons" are just ignorant.
