Slog tipper Dan Savage is down in Olympia today for the swearing in of Governor Jay Inslee. "Jay's speech—promising a lot of change, progressive principles—seemed to be a critique of the previous administration," our tipper writes. "Which was a Republican administration, right? Wasn't it? That's what you would've assumed if you didn't know."

Inslee's speech promised to bring "authentic, courageous leadership" that would "deliver the change in Olympia you asked for last November" because—apparently under Gregoire—voters had "tired of a state government that doesn’t change with the times."

Asked about the repudiation of an outdated, timid, disingenuous state government, Washington State Democratic Party chair Dwight Pelz told our tipper, "I don't point out inconsistencies, I elect them."
