The Return of Twin Peaks?

Posted by on Wed, Jan 2, 2013 at 3:57 PM

Apparently there are rumors that David Lynch is in talks to revive Twin Peaks, at least according to Blastr.com:

But the more substantial chatter is coming as a result of recent reports that Lynch has been taking meetings with NBC, possibly about creating a third season of Twin Peaks for that network…

Here's where it gets a little vague, though, because some Twitter chatter suggests that the show would take place a short time after the events of the second season, with the Cooper/BOB scenario still playing out, while other reports say that the show would take place 25 years after the original, although it would resolve the plot threads from back then.

As always, this requires a legally-binding Slog poll. Mr. Lynch, take note:

So long as they make fun of people on Capitol Hill, I'm all for it

Yeah, between this and 206 (nee almost live) and Sirvana, seems like Seattle gave up trying to top itself and will become a 90s theme park like Graceland is to Memphis.

All we need is a Windows '95 rollercoaster.

ONLY IF

they mix it up with Joel from Northern Exposu and the hottie pilot and blonde chick, also the vampires from forks, and the Portlandiacrew.

To cap it off they can joke with SPD ("240 cases of excessive force, plus DOJ lawsuit -- what's not to laugh about huk hyuk hyuk!").

Well, the guy who played Bob died several years ago, but getting a scary-homeless looking person shouldn't be that hard.

Only if there are interminable side plots revolving around beauty pageants and James Hurley taking road trips.

Despite the North Bend and Snoqualmie location shots, The original Twin Peaks was supposedly located in NE Washington near Metaline Falls (home of the Boundary Dam!!!). Seattle is mentioned very infrequently.

I loved that show. Would be glad to see it come back.

If it comes back, it needs to feature fat tire snow biking.

Everyone is fat tire snow biking.

It is so now, it's tomorrow and then, next year.

Yes, dear leader. Just EVERYONE in Metaline Falls is fat tire snow biking. You really have your finger on the pulse of Washington state.

I'd rather see Fat Tire Ale than Fat Tire Snow Biking.

Only if ONE FUCKING THING about the show can actually make sense. Given that it's David Lynch, that's unlikely.

What I'd really love to see would be a completely meta "making of the updated TV series called 'Twin Peaks'", done "On The Air" style.

But frankly, I'll take ANY iteration, so long as it's shot in WA...

I would have voted for "YESSSSS! With the SAME cast, but a more cohesive plot"

@14 I like that idea. I'm also pleased that at least one other person has seen 'On The Air'. Have you seen all 6 episodes? Wackiness.

@13: One does not watch the work of David Lynch with any expectation of a coherent story line. What would be the fun of that?

Dear The Starnger, in my eagerness to vote, I voted for "YEESSSSSS!!!!" before fully reading all the other votes. Shot my wad prematurely, you might say.

Please edit my vote to read "Only if Kyle MacLachlan reprises his role as Agent Dale Cooper."

Thank you.

P.s. And please ensure they bring back Kathryn Colson too.

I am right with @ 15. COULD be awesome: could be TRAGIC (scuse all caps) but likely will only be capable of being one or the other.

Also, since I'm feeling so agreeable, I'll agree w/ 19 as well. Lynch started off w/ "Eraserhead" - where was he gonna go from there?

Although the 2nd season was a very clear middle finger extended by Lynch to the network, I kinda hope this doesn't work out. Twin Peaks is a whole, if somewhat twisted, unit & IDK if I like the idea of messing with its mythology.
