People keep talking about this...

There was spike in gun purchases when Obama was first elected, another the second time, and now there is spike right after the mass murder in Newtown. What can this mean? Are all the gun people preparing for a war with the government? Preparing for the next mass murder? Or are they, like Nancy Lanza, preparing for the end that will come after the collapse of the economy? No. These people have not forgotten these words...

But the truth is, is that, our challenge is to get people persuaded that we can make progress when there’s not evidence of that in their daily lives. You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them... So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion...

They know the president, they know some kind of gun ban is not unlikely, they feel it's now or never.
