Pratt said Adam Lanza was evil, not mentally ill. So why not exorcism?

Piers Morgan not being a dumbass? What's next, sane gun laws that last more than a decade?

What actually are the murder rates in the areas of the country where people are allowed to carry guns? Is the guy right? Is he actually arguing from a fact-based perspective?

I find it hard to believe, but I would like to see the data.

@3, 4: Check out this page:

http://www.disastercenter.com/crime/US_S…

Compare high-gun and low-gun states for murder, forcible rape, and aggravated assaults. Compare Texas, Florida and Arizona versus New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Even the argument that carrying a gun will protect you from violent crime in general, not just murder, doesn't hold up.

It's utter and complete bullshit. The general claims made for owning a weapon to increase your personal safety are not supported by statistical evidence.

Of course, as Rachel Maddow pointed out on her show last night, since Congress passed laws preventing the CDC from studying gun violence, and the ATF from releasing any public statistics, it's easier to get away with making up shit without authoritative federal agencies releasing pesky reports that contradict you. At least we still have state-level data.

Sir Vic 6
The basis of his argument is that fewer people are killed by guns in rural Iowa than in LA, NYC, or DC. He's hoping you don't know that there are fewer people living in rural Iowa than in those major cities.
It's a debate tactic that should get you disqualified for a gross lack of comprehension. The group he represents relies on such extreme stupidity to survive.

@6 not only is what you are saying completely true, this man is doing double- false witness duty. Rachel Maddow pointed something out the other day that is completely correct: nearly all of the gun violence in major metropolitan areas or gun-free zones can be attributed to guns acquired through secondary markets and gun shows in states and areas with far more lax gun laws. Just because the crimes aren't being committed in these states/areas doesn't mean they can't be ATTRIBUTED to them. If the ban on semi-automatic weapons and equally strict regulation of secondary market/gun shows were a country-wide rule of law (like it is in nearly all other civilized countries) there would be a MASSIVE decline in gun-violent crimes. It's proven to work in every single place that adopts the policy.

PS:

This fact coupled with the actual data that shows that even our most gun-friendly areas have FAR higher gun crime rates than any other civilized nation shows just how full of shit that man on Morgan's show was. It was bursting from the seams.

Unbelievable stupid man interviews unbelievably stupid man. How enlightening!

The night of the shooting, Piers gave air time to a woman now living in the UK who claimed she vaguely recalled Lanza from elementary school, and pumped her incessantly for insight into the shooter's motive. How enlightening!
