Thanks, Gregoire, But Governor-Elect Inslee Will Go His Own Way on the Budget

Posted by on Tue, Dec 18, 2012 at 1:14 PM

In response to the budget proposals released by outgoing Governor Chris Gregoire this morning, Governor-elect Jay Inslee's office says in a statement:

Governor Gregoire’s budget reflects the seriousness of the challenges ahead and Governor-Elect Inslee appreciates her thoughtful effort and determination to address Washington’s fiscal reality. In the upcoming legislative session, Governor-Elect Inslee will lay out his own budget priorities that reflect his vision for state government and his commitment to create a lasting economic recovery with secure jobs for Washington's middle-class.

I don't know why she's clawing at the taxpayer's wallet while kicking and screaming towards the exit.

Public education did no fare well during Gregoire's leadership. At all. I certainly hope Inslee has some new ideas.

@1 - Cuz she fears Inslee won't have the nutsacks to do what needs to be done. There are too many wallets, fat from priveledge, tax breaks and loopholes, that have ducked a fair scratching for quite some time.

Yes, notably the absence of fair property assessments and the inability to enact HB-2100.

But Democrats won't touch that.
