Not all online petitions are necessarily created equal. This is an immediate response, for one. I also wonder what the record speed for reaching the 25,000 signatures is? I mean, if it hits 25,000 in hours, and six digits in a couple days..., if this is a real landslide, it might mean something.

SLOG should start a running total of readers (through a follow-up poll) of how many readers signed the petition. Let's use a collective voice - in Washington State - just like we did to the long overdue gay marriage law. Drum up signatures along with holiday donations!
Well let's see: It was posted to Slog at some time after 2 PM. It's now a little after 4 PM and the petition has 30,000 signatures. Reaching a hundred thou in a couple days does not seem unattainable.
Want to do more? Call Patty Murray, tell her to put the pressure on. Call Maria Cantwell, tell her to put the pressure on. Call Doc Hastings and tell him he's a useless shitstain. Call that other guy, the one with brain damage, the one representing the Eastside, tell him he's a useless shitstain too.
Make yourself heard.

I heard there were 3 million guns owned by Americans. Maybe we should be forcing the administration to limit access to bullets! Perhaps you'd think twice about massacring people if the bullets cost you $1000 each.

Enforcing existing laws, in the meantime, would be a start. AND making health care, INCLUDING mental health care available to all NOW will also help immensely. This, more than a gun issue, is so hugely also an unaddressed social issue that needs fixing in our local AND global culture.

@3, not the president, but someone on his staff, will respond.
@5, because, dickface, the people who do it get their guns from numbnuts like you. Today's murderer took his mother's guns. If his mother had no guns -- for she certainly had no need for them -- those kids would still be alive today.
