Of Course: Pro-Life Coat Hangers

Posted by on Wed, Dec 12, 2012 at 11:04 AM

First, the photo. And then the story:

On Monday, a pro-choice blogger called out "the worst marketing decision ever": An Ohio dry cleaner who puts pro-life messages on wire coat hangers.

Springdale Cleaners, a dry cleaning chain with 10 locations in the Greater Cincinnati area, returns laundered clothing to customers on hangers that read “Choose Life” beside an image of the owner’s granddaughter.

I think it’s the perfect place to advertise a pro-life message,” Springdale Cleaners owner Paul Dehler told HuffPost. The 66-year-old said he printed the images on the hangers to support his sister, who's opposed to women’s right to choose an abortion. “I don’t get into all that,” Dehler said of the abortion debate. “I’m just putting the message out there, and doing it for my sister.”

Stay tuned for NRA-themed body bags.

(Thank Brice for the tip. )

"I don't get into all that...except when I get into all that."

You don't try to have a discussion with people like this. Anyone who is that blind to irony and is, by their own admission, incapable of understanding that making a statement on a controversial issue gets them "into all that" is not worth wasting effort on.

Maybe he should just put this message on his coat hangers: "Please don't use these hangers to abort your pregnancy. We don't approve."

How about a bumper sticker on a car that says "No Blood for Oil" ... ?

Who are these idiots that think merging business and politics is even remotely a good idea? I don't want to know what my dry cleaner thinks about abortion, I just want them to dry clean my fucking clothes for a reasonable price. What they then choose to do with the money is no more my business than it was my employers when they paid me.

@7 - No, because that would mean we couldn't have oil without war and to my knowledge, we can!

@7: If those bumper stickers were put on cars fresh off the assembly line and then sold to people, you'd have a point. Why? Do you think it's offensive for citizens to put politically-charged bumper stickers on their own private property?
