Besides, [Washington State GOP chair] Wilbur quipped, "Our hope is people smoke enough pot, they'll forget to vote, and then we'll win."
But isn't that always the Republican electoral strategy? Hoping that enough folks on the other side won't (or can't) vote? Sure, it's a "quip." But it's also a tiny window into the mindset of what's wrong with the Republican Party.
They don't really seem to care if their ideology appeals to the majority of Americans as long as it appeals to the majority who vote. And that strikes me as a losing strategy in the long run.
