The Stranger Reviews "Books"

Posted by on Thu, Dec 6, 2012 at 11:08 AM

This fine title arrived recently:

stoner_with_a_boner.jpg

Stoner with a Boner: It's a Long Story, by Kathleen K., is an erotic fiction "novel" written from the perspective of a sexually prolific male pot smoker. It describes itself as a "nonlinear sexotic romp."

And because you know you want it, here's a representative passage: "LaLinda combined smoke and self-sex with me, it was apparent we were compatibly charged by the marijuana and also by masturbating." And, fuck it, here's another: "I don't eat in bed—I have a chair and table for that in my bedroom, it seats two for intimate snacking."

I would have assumed that "Stoner with a Boner" would be fairly succinct. Thoughtfully, the subtitle provides fair warning about the length of the tale.

So what you're saying is it's a masterpiece, and I should pick it up at my nearest independent bookstore/headshop posthaste?

I would like to restate my suggestion that filmed readings of chapters from this book become a regular Slog event. I will even volunteer my literacy and vocal ability for an installment.

I really like, the way this, was written, you know? The only thing that could make it better is if it was filled with ellipses, but instead of using periods she used commas,,,you know,,,like some of,,,my grammatically challenged Facebook,,,friends,,,jajajajaj,,,
