Protesters Don't Materialize, Adorable Couples Do

We got a couple tips this morning that some mean-spirited protesters planned to crash the gay marriage party downtown. Eager to kick some equality-hating ass, I hustled down to the King County Administration building, but the protesters didn't show. Which is good because no one likes a sore loser.

What we did see are lots of couples getting their marriage certificates. King County reports that as of 2:00 p.m., they've issued 418 marriage licenses. So if you haven't already gotten your fill of couples, we have more:

Jeanette Raven wore a pink tiara as she and her fiancee, Patrice Raven, picked up their marriage license. They've been together for 8 years:

More after the jump!

Cynthia Riggin and her soon-to-be wife Celeste Douville have been together for 15 years. With them to get the marriage license was their four-year-old son. They plan to get married on Sunday:

Chris Buening and Ken Valder have been together for almost 19 years:

Michael Johnson and Rob Crosby have been together for 18 years. They're getting married on the December 21, the purported apocalypse day, so they can prove to their friends that getting married isn't the end of the world:

Todd Tuttle and Corey Clemans have been together for a year and a half. They want to get married on 12-12-12, which is also the birthday of Todd's father:

Although they've only been together for 7 months, Andrea Johnson and Julia Pels came to get their marriage certificates today. They haven't set a date yet:

Elizabeth Whitford and Cristina Acevedo have been together for approximately 15 years. They are getting married at City Hall on Sunday. Elizabeth (left) is 6 months pregnant with their second child:

David Schowengerdt and Bryan Ochalla will be getting married on Sunday after 12 years of waiting:

Jessica Lynn and Joyce Allen have together since 1992 and (if they can get a spot) on Sunday they'll be legally married:

Dedicated Slog reader Gene Breshears will be marrying his partner Michael Yust on Sunday after 15 years:

Ruben and Nick Jackman will finally be married after 17 years on the 15th of December:

Slog reader Ryan Boe and his hubby Joseph Seppen are two of the lucky few getting married this Sunday at City Hall. They have been together for 11 years:

If I were not already heterosexual married, I might have gone down to the courthouse with some random guy just to get a first edition Washington State gay marriage license... Those things may be worth something some day.

I can feel the happy gushing from each and every couple. I'm loving these pics. Dare I say it, I'm loving them even more than the dog pics Slog had a few days ago. Happy couples, cuter than puppies. Yes indeed.

There was apparently a guy who ranted at a moderate volume for a bit but he vanished quickly. Too many people, I reckon.

@8: I think this means Slog wins decisively against CHS. VICTOLY!!!!

@ 9, just wait til Sunday. Anyone want to take bets on how many different couples will see their pictures on Slog? I say at least 50.

Congratulations to all the happy couples. These pictures are truly moving.

I posted this earlier in the comments of the 6:00 am batch of photos, but it was later in the day. So I don't know how many people saw it.

Anyone know of any other midnight license-issuing parties? I know one happened at the Thurston County courthouse. Doesn't look like they pulled an all-nighter though.

Now that I've been looking at happy couple photo galleries on Slog all day, I have to admit that what they did in Olympia was nice, but King County is making us look really bad.

Now, it's none of my business, I know, and congratulations to all the couples, but seven months? I guess they're adult making their own adult decisions, but I would generally encourage a much longer period together before getting married. I don't think gay marriage is going away.

@19 yeah but thats marriage and love for you :)

My parents had been together for a few months when they married, gave birth to me, divorced, got my younger brother in a spree of make-up-sex a few years later and then separated again.

Washingtons gays and lesbians didn't get equal rights to prove that they are better at love and marriage than straight couples , they got it to rectify an injustice.
