The Morning News: Stabbings, Drones, Mortars, and Subways

Posted by on Tue, Dec 4, 2012 at 8:24 AM

29 Students Dead in Syria: "A mortar slammed into a school in the Damascus suburbs on Tuesday."

Uh Oh: "Secret information on counter-terrorism shared by foreign governments may have been compromised by a massive data theft by a senior IT technician for the NDB, Switzerland's intelligence service, European national security sources said."

Iran Is Lying: They say they have captured a US drone. But the US says they're all accounted for. (But I learned from watching Homeland that sometimes America lies, you guys! Who's telling the truth!?)

"Republicans Balk at Short-Term Stimulus in Obama Plan": BALK, I SAY!

Well That Won't Be Happening Now: Fox News tried to get Petraeus to run for president, with Rupert Murdoch possibly bankrolling the campaign.

George Zimmerman's Bloody Nose: His lawyers say a newly released color photograph of Zimmerman with a bloody nose creates doubt in the murder case against him.

Do You Know Something About This?: Before killing himself in an Anchorage jail cell, Israel Keyes claimed he killed four people in Washington between 2001 and 2006. The FBI is hoping the public can help track his travels.

A Man Died After Being Pushed onto Subway Tracks: And there are a lot of pictures of him trying to climb back onto to the platform, but not a lot of stories of motherfuckers putting down their cameras and helping him not get fucking crushed by the Q train.

Here's Something to Scare the Shit Out of You: For months a woman thought she had a runny nose from allergies, but it was actually FLUID LEAKING FROM HER BRAIN.

More Katt Williams Trouble: The comedian was kicked out of a Seattle hotel for allegedly smoking pot. Now he's trying to buy a Washington State Ferry.

In Olympia This Morning: One dead and one injured in a stabbing at McCoy's Tavern.

I Want to Go Back to School!: "College offering puppy room for stressed out students." SQUEAL!

HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY: There might be a season after all, and the announcement could come today or tomorrow.

All I want for Christmas is you, hockey:

One of the kittens in Picky the green cat's litter (we found the litter in a GM plant) had a runny nose all the time. He died of a brain tumor around 2 months. It was his brain fluid leaking out his nose... :(

At this juncture, I can only believe that any new evidence in the Zimmerman case is either made up or photoshopped all to hell. Just send the jackass to PMITA already.

We need an autoplay warning on the subway story, please.

And lord, I hope they get the hockey season going and that it doesn't screw the players over again.

Also, Jovan Belcher and Kassandra Perkins had been receiving couples therapy courtesy of the Kansas City Chiefs, and they might have argued over how late she had stayed out the night before. Neither are proof of domestic violence or controlling behavior, but whether Belcher was an abuser or not is key to understanding whether this crime has any place in the debate over gun control.

"Republicans Balk at Short-Term Stimulus in Obama Plan"

This is great news right?

The play is called dead, Democratic runners advance a base and Obama resumes at the previous count.

Zimmerman was always going to walk. He was attacked, and because of the interpretation of Stand your Ground, his shooting of Martin was, in all likelihood, techically legal, especially since Zimmerman was doing nothing technically illegal at the time.

Which is unspeakably sad, but we can only prosecute based on the laws we have. Obviously the law needs to be rewritten/undone, but one can not hold that against Zimmerman at this juncture. Even though he is a killer, he will not be found guilty of murder.

I'm really surprised no one helped the guy on the subway tracks. It was always a fear of mine, and I like to think I'd have jumped to someone's rescue. You never know what you'd do in shock, but a Times Square N/R platform is pretty crowded all day Monday.

NHL strike is not over:

The hockey world was abuzz Monday when WBZ’s Steve Burton reported that the NHL could announce a CBA agreement as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday, but Bill Daly stomped the rumor out to Sports Illustrated’s Sarah Kwak.

Daly told Kwak that “not a single morsel” of the scuttlebutt was true and expanded upon that thought with TVA’s Patrick Caisse.

“I’m aware of the reports making the rounds,” Daly said. “Unfortunately, there is no truth to them.”

George Zimmerman was heavier when he was arrested. See this photo. Notice the cheeks, see how fuller the face is?
Now here's that new photo. See how narrower the cheeks are?

@ 12, it's a lockout, not a strike. The distinction matters.

Central core urban density made both subway victim and perp much happier than train pushers in sprawl.

Ok, this is a first.

I went to look up something on Lowes.com and...I got put in a waiting line!

Yes, they put me on a page with a vid of 5 five people standing in line, and the message "everyone wants to get in...we'll get to you next"!

Guess it's a good sign for e-tail.

@14, legally 'yes,' in relation to false rumors that the lockout is over, not in any meaningful sense.

Remember, Naomi Wolfe will be at Town Hall in Seattle tonight, especially important for all you clowns who are unable to find your own vaginas, this will be a major help to you.

Video of the day (the coming drones....):

sgt_doom endorses most selectively, which is why he endorses the original and humanistic thinker, Ms. Wolfe, a most forward-thinking American citizen.

Thank you.

I would not be surprised if Iran captured another drone.

It's not too hard to mess those up, if you know what you're doing.
