Yesterday it was announced that our very own city council member, Nick Licata, was chosen to chair a new national organization, called Local Progress, whose goal is to spread successful, progressive legislation from city to city.

This might not be the sexiest work in the world but it is vital—it's exactly the kind of great behind-the-scenes collaboration cities and towns need in order to pass contentious legislation like Seattle's paid sick leave (which some local business owners are still moaning about).

So congratulations, Nick Licata!

While I'm on the subject, everyone in the office agrees that Nick Licata should start doing drag under the name "Lick Ricotta."
