Let's face it: Nobody gives a shit about the news today because today is the day we fantasize about turkey (SHUT UP, VEGANS).
But here's interesting news: The national abortion rate fell five percent in 2009, resulting in the biggest one-year decrease in the last decade. What's important to note is that the drop precedes the slew of anti-abortion legislation that's been proposed over the last two year. So what gives?
"They stick to straight and narrow ... and they are more careful about birth control," said Elizabeth Ananat, a Duke University assistant professor of public policy and economics who has researched abortions.
While many states have aggressively restricted access to abortion, most of those laws were adopted in the past two years and are not believed to have played a role in the decline.
