Well, it turns out not all Republicans are in complete denial about what happened last week. Writing in her weekly email newsletter, King County Republican Party chair Lori Sotelo is pretty blunt about the electoral beating her side took:
First things first, we got a Thumpin’, there is no mistake about it. Historically speaking it’s not the worst election for Republicans, but if we don’t learn from the smarting parts of this election we deserve what we get going forward. Republicans need to take a long hard look at ourselves to identify the disconnects between the GOP and voters, and bridge the gaps, no matter how tough. Period. That is not to say that we compromise our principles, as some have suggested, but Republicans spend an awful lot of time talking about who we are not which doesn’t go very far in building relationships. I’m just saying…
Unless "Thumpin'" is the name of her pet rabbit, Sotelo at least seems to recognize the challenge her party faces. Though if they're going to continue to hold to their principles without compromise—principles that voters widely rejected—I'm not sure how the GOPers can rise to this challenge.

If the GOP were a business we'd have to say, look, some of our products are selling:
-Control of taxes (2/3rds supermajority!)
-Charter schools
Things that increase the power and choice of an individual!
But we've got lots of products that don't sell and hurt our overall image:
-Extreme distaste for even minimal societal goals, even when they benefit business and employees
-Lack of Forward Progress in technological thinking (too many curmudgeons)
-Being non-inclusive of people not like ourselves
It's time for some drastic cuts in our Ideology "Product Line"...maybe we should even reduce our membership, and focus on a smaller, but winnable core.
