How many years now has Gaza been in Palestinian hands? Yet not once have they ceased hostilities with Israel and tried to become self-governing. Nope- Destroy Israel is all they exist for.
If Hamas is stupid enough to play to the Israeli right (they are), they deserve to get the shit bombed out of them and re-occupied. They killed him on Wednesday, in retaliation for constant rocket bombardment. I have a friend living 20 miles from the Gaza border, and she's pretty much been living in a bomb shelter for the past week. What countries would not strike back?
I'm as pro-Palestinian as they come, and this shit infuriates me. Hamas is playing into the hands of the Israeli right wing, and, not only are they going to lose independence in Gaza in perpetuity, they've also trashed any possibility of the West Bank being part of an independent Palestinian state. Fuck them.

@ 7 when the Israelis left gaza, the rockets started. since then, no word from hamas except a vow to destroy isreal now and forever. how can they leave the west bank now. Thank hamas for the occupation too.

@5: We'd probably invade a country next to the one the rockets came from and let the real villains get away. Not exactly the foreign policy you'd want to emulate, but then again, neither is bulldozing your colonists' houses.

@ Sargon Bighorn WTF re: holocaust card? let's see what happens when 150 missiles are fired into Seattle with how the US responds. Any country would fight back to defend itself, as Israel is rightly doing

Israel can always play the Holocaust card preventing anyone from stepping between the two. The Palestinians are still fighting with each other as is typical of the Arab Male mind set; everyone has to be top-dog. And the American Evangelical Radical Religious extremists think modern Israel is Biblical Israel and there fore must be supported unconditionally. It's a fine mess indeed.
