Two Seattle Men Sue SPD for Excessive Force: After stopping the men at gunpoint for fitting a 911 caller's description of "two tall, skinny, African-Americans," the officer was caught on camera telling them, "I'm going to make stuff up" to send them to jail.
Hope Solo's Fiancé Arrested, Released: Former Seahawk and Husky Jerramy Stevens was arrested on suspicion of assaulting Solo on the eve of their wedding. The judge ordered his release, saying police didn't have sufficient cause to hold him.

You may wish to correct your French. A "fiancee" is an engaged woman. A "fiance" is an engaged man. {There should be an accent mark over the first "e" of each, but I haven't figured out how to do them in Linux yet. ::sighs::]

Jerramy Stevens is a royal piece of shit. Sad that Hope Solo didn't think she could do better. Unfortunately, given the guy's track record, she probably won't figure it out until after he beats the shit out of her.

Jerramy Stevens is one of the biggest scumbags in Seattle history. Jerramy Stevens is the UW Husky who roofied and then anally raped a freshman in the mud outside his frat house and left her for dead (she lived), and then used the full force of the Husky legal machine, which includes several of the top attorneys in the state working for free, and went all the way up to saintly former prosecutor Norm Maleng, who shrugged off the victim's mother with "just be thankful she's still alive". Stevens received millions of dollars worth of free legal protection; his victim was denied even the most basic counseling and was hounded out of the school.
This was the case that broke the UW football program and drove Rick Neuheisel out (where he has since had to suffer through a decade of multimillion-dollar salaries, and can currently be found on CBS every Saturday, talking about how much more important college football is than women's lives.
Stevens has since then been involved in pretty much one long continuous fight with a variety of police forces, committing a string of felonies across America that he can never somehow be held accountable for. If there was any justice here, he'd be put away for life for this one. I expect him to get time served and a $3 fine, like always.

Why Charter Schools and Hostess Bakery Strike Are Connected
The sad outcome of the vote on charter schools once again demonstrates either the pathetic ignorance, or willful self-destruction, of the American electorate.
Not only is this the obvious move to privatize education, a component of the overall plutocracy plan to privatize everything, but it further seeks to de-unionize public education with the constant shrinking of the teachers' unions.
One can't, of course, blame the Hostess Bakery workers for striking --- after all, in 99% of the the cases, when the management claims a reason for lowering the workers' wages and benefits, it is normally a lie. This one time, there may have been a hint of truth, but still I support their strike.
Why a "hint of truth"? With the massive offshoring of American jobs, hitting critical mass around 1999, bakery jobs are one of the few "non-transferable" jobs, i.e., positions which normally require physically proximity to the consumer base.
The company stated it would close the facility here due to national over-suppy of bakeries --- and in that they are correct, thanks to the corporate offshoring of American jobs.
Such offshoring also further destabilizes and destroys unions, and hence further erodes the rights of all American workers.
With four official "jobless recoveries" now -- and the previous three seeing only half-again the number of jobs created as were lost, with half of those jobs created (again half in number to those lost) being at lower wages, and with a similar but worst situation this time around with the fourth official jobless recovery, as there have been less than the previos one-half job creation this time around, the pressure on the downward spiral of wage shrinkage is enormous!
True, the teachers' unions have done a really shitty job of fighting against the Wall Street movement to create charter schools across America, just as the unions aren't blameless in their overall destruction (I'm referring to the late 1970s and early 1980s, when the CWA and Police Unions around the country refused to grow, which would have increased their strength and bargaining positions, but instead purposely limited their number so as to drive up their wages -- especially the police unions which proved recalcitrant in the hiring of minorities and women -- and the selling out by union management, i.e., Meany and Sweeney, etc.).
If the moronic voters choose to continue with the plan of the super-rich, to privatize everything, to destroy workers' wages and any semblance of security and meritocratic structure (assuming there ever was such a thing???), then there doesn't really appear to be any recourse in this matter.
Once again, the treason of the people . . . .

What a relief! I had a face-to-face talk with Ronald McDonald yesterday. Re Elmo, he swore he doesn't know "any of those guys".
Now I can concentrate on worrying about important things, like Hope Solo and her traumatic childhood (which included an alcoholic mom, eviction, custodial kidnapping). For her sake, I hope the reality TV proceeds are worth the trauma to come.
