The Ballard Station Public House opened recently in the space formerly inhabited by Ballard Avenue Pub, which was reportedly rarely open and played Nickelback at high volumes when it was. Bar manager Mark P. Edwards (formerly of the Yard) told me the owners cleansed the space of bad bar-energy with a combination of stripping the walls to bare brick and what he referred to as a "beer exorcism."

As I did not order from the bar's diverse beer menu, I didn't experience a beer exorcism, but the "Sundance Kid" certainly cleansed me of something. It is equal parts Bulleit bourbon, Lillet, and Cynar—all of which are wonderful by themselves, but seemed potentially confusing together, like a pizza covered in tacos or a car with two spoilers covered in tacos. However, it was more like a citrusy, not overly sweet old-fashioned. Lavender Marcona almonds were a perfect accompaniment.
