"It was better in the original German," as Molly Ivins once said.

@33:
Yes, there was one clapping black woman towards the end.

I don't recall seeing a black person the whole video.

Truly, there is nothing sadder than a young republican.

Don't you know? This election was a mandate for conservative ideas. Because they didn't lose their majority in the House.

The bubble lives!

I actually went to Williams College with that guy, kind of sad to see that nothing in his worldview has changed.

@21 -- Republicans are considered fiscally conservative (only by other conservatives, not by well informed non-conservatives) because they're masters of the shell game and their marks are so gullible they don't even realize there's a pea under one of the cups. That's why they love Reagan so deeply -- he preached fiscal responsibility. Never mind that he didn't practice it, the preaching was what they came for.

That one Latino it flashed past just killed me. They didn't even need to show the leaf blower it was implied so hard.

I have never understood why Republicans are considered fiscally sound. Whenever they take control of government they spend like drunken sailors and drive the deficit up immensely. They are the part that depends on massive government spending to juice the economy. It should be noted that Obama cut the deficit $200 million last year. A Romney presidency wouldn't be doing that.

You think that guy looks gay? He looks to me like he dragged a black man to his death last night with his truck & wants to do it again.

Random, jumpy shots of television screens and closeups of some angry dude's teeth, all set to a cheesy action movie soundtrack. Not sure what it has to do with Riefenstahl, other than the fact that she also produced fascist propaganda.

Holy fuck! The President hasn't even done his second inaugural yet and already they're sharpening their axes.

So maybe it isn't the people who are so very much divided in this country. It's those goddamn political think tanks and PACs who, posing as the academic voice of reason, scare the living shit out of those easily swayed.

You can't put limits on freedom of speech. I would never suggest that, but I try to extrapolate what wing-nuts and their money will ultimate do to this country and I don't like what I see. Education and critical thinking aren't priorities to a lot of people. If they see it on a TV commercial, it has to be fact. Right? And the wing-nuts know the dumber they are, the better.

One thing that might help is bringing back the equal time rule. Maybe TV stations won't air crap like this if they have to offer free time to opposing viewpoints. It used to work just fine, but the Republicans got rid of it.

President Obama's reelection is a devastating blow. But it's not a decisive defeat.

Except for that part where your guy was defeated, decisively.

"Over the last four years, the conservative movement has grown stronger, as more and more Americans recognize the bankruptcy of President Obama's vision."

Hear that? The conservative movement is stronger than ever, because there are more and more (and more!) of us. Why, Governor Romney is going to win this thing easily. Oh, wait.

I gotta say, for people who are so worried about deficits, they sure seem to think highly of President Reagan.

Now does everybody see why it's just as crucial to turn out the vote in the mid-term elections?

The headline is an insult to Leni Riefenstahl. The video is pretty much crap on every level, and say what you will about her choice of causes, she could direct one hell of a propaganda piece.

the music is like a bastard child of the soundtracks for the 11th Doctor Who and Nolan's Batman. If this was about fighting future robots instead of how scary that commie black man it would be awesome- but as is its silly and over wroght

The drumbeats, the disorienting angles, the super-tight closeups of the sweaty homosexual narrator, the DRAMA of it all: high camp. This is satire, right?

He's right that young people can't be arsed to vote in the midterms. Democrats will lose the Senate and Obama's Supreme Court nominations will be toast. Probably see some anti-gay marriage initiatives pass on the state level too.

Really need to figure out some way to get everyone excited every two years instead of only every four.

The war metaphor drumbeat coupled with the music is pretty unsettling. I hope the Treasury Department's finest will double down on protecting the prez from the type of people inclined to take this literally.

I like the bit where he says, "Even I understand [blah blah conservative policy]". Like he's totally admitting to being a moron.
