"Can't stand you!"

Posted by on Thu, Nov 8, 2012 at 8:57 AM

That's the subject line of an email sent last night to Last Days. Here's the rest:

The topics that I have Googled have brought me to your site, recently. I am repulsed by your language and frankly, all of your views. You make me scared for my daughter's world! I truly wish someone would pull you from the internet world. You all should be punished for your insane rants; you are a disappointment to our society!

I've sent a reply, politely asking for specifics. Stay tuned!

Also, I considered adding a poll about which of our views are repulsive, but we already know the answer: All of them. So here's another poll.

It's the LW's fault for all the deviant googling that led her here. Gracious! I hope we discover the offending topic...

David- You need to take away your mother's laptop. Now that she's found you, you'll never hear the end of it.

You make her scared for her daughter's world, that world with unicorns and Pink dresses, little birds that sit on one's finger, rainbows that appear with no rain nor clouds, flowers that spring up everywhere and are HUGE. In other words the world of Pot. Really, Stranger Staff, you are such a let down for 7 year old girls.

I too wonder what he was googling that brought him to the stranger/slog? I'll vote for last weeks news because I don't remember what was from last week and so can't google it myself. I know I can look it up but I don't feel like it.

That's funny, the letter writer thinks her precious snowflake is still innocent and pure.

The daughter's probably been saddlebacking for a couple years now.

I'm kinda glad the summer season in which someone got eaten by a bear every week is now over. But we still needed to know exactly how many people were being eaten by bears, it's important stuff.

It's got to be corpse hoarding! After all, haven't we learned from "The Walking Dead" that maintaining your own herd of corpses inoculates you from the coming zombie invasion?

(Just make sure you chain them first before they reanimate and come after you. The dead have no loyalties.)

UPDATE: A reply from the letter-writer:

I have read your attacks at people, who don't follow your views. The obvious lack of knowledge as you voice your stand on vaccination. Again, bashing on the people who do not agree with same sex marriage, or with legalizing marijuana. (The list could go on). From what I have seen, you are all spiteful, argumentative and lack morality.

Oh, so she's in favor of everyone getting sick and no one being happy. Got it.

Actually, it's probably just the phrase "Last Days" which of course is the time in which those folks perpetually believe themselves to be living. (It's always struck me as odd that people think themselves so special that they will happen to be the generation alive when something so momentous happens -- especially when so many equally devout believers shuffled into their graves before them without witnessing it. But exceptionalism is, I guess, the least of their vanities.)

In my darkest hours I find myself imagining a terrorist getting his hands on the last of the frozen smallpox specimens and setting it loose, just to impose some natural selection on the anti-vaccinationists (and their unfortunate children).

Whoah, If I understand correctly, then she probably hasn't vaccinated her daughter?

That pisses me off.

I've only ever read one thing on Slog or Last Days that squicked me enough that I couldn't go on reading it. Human Centipede, anyone? Although the Anal Hook from Hump! a couple years ago came close...

@11 No wonder OP fears for their daughter's world, if they're not vaccinating the kid, then all those statistics should be pretty scary.
