The Presidential Race Is Essentially in Stasis

Posted by on Mon, Oct 29, 2012 at 1:13 PM

With Sandy at her strongest, the presidential race has basically been put on hold. It's a strange moment. The week before an election is supposed to be hectic, but now there's an eerie calm. My Twitter feed, which has been frantic with politics for the last two weeks, is now full of talk about the weather.

Some political reporters are trying to predict what Sandy will mean for the elections. The answer is that they don't know. They don't know what the east coast will look like when all this is over. They don't know when it will be over. They don't know what Election Day will look like now. Don't listen to them. Instead, donate some money to the Red Cross and ignore those predictive posts. Nobody can say what will happen a week from now.

In many markets, the Obama campaign has released what will be one of the final ads of the presidential campaign. If they don't lose power, people who are holed up in their homes waiting out the weather will see this ad a whole bunch of times. I think it's a good one.

I can't give any money to the Red Cross. I gave it all to Obama.

Barack Obama also rides in limousines.

Thanks @2, that was short but pointless.

How odd that the same thing for the economy basically happened also in 2008.

@2 "Barack Obama also rides in limousines."

What a ridiculous false equivalence.

Even the TEA-i-est of Baggers admits that while Romney rides in limousines, people only see the President roll'n, and while the haters be hating, they cab only catch him rid'n Presidential.

I can't give any money to the Red Cross either. I gave it all to the NRA.

@2: but Obama lacks the creepy smile of a soul-less replicant devoid of empathy.

Let's see MAJOR media attention to the section of the Romney-Ryan budget that want to eliminate or drastically slash both the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the National Weather Service. It's in the GOP's fuck-you plan for commoners who just want to mooch guidance and assistance during a natural disaster. Fuck any lazy moochers with no extra homes outside the danger areas, and without a year's worth of food on hand like a proper Mormon has...

This is exactly the type of ad I have been wanting to see from the Obama team over and over again. This is precisely what's at stake, and it never even mentioned the Supreme Court reverting the country to where we were in the 1920's. It's too bad that it's so late in the campaign, but maybe it'll reach someone.
