Short Film Fridays

Posted by on Fri, Oct 26, 2012 at 3:29 PM

This week's film is “Hectometer,” a beautiful, poetic, and moody short by Matty Brown, a local filmmaker. Shot in the Bahamas, the short is about William Trubridge's “world record freedive to 100 meters in order to bring light to the plight of the world's smallest cetacean, the Hector's Dolphin of New Zealand.” Beauty and progressive politics must never be separated.

Speaking of local shorts, Adam Sekuler will screen his latest short film "The Third Floor" in the Publix Hotel storefront window, 504, 5th Ave S, Wednesday, October 31. The film, which, like much of Sekuler's work, blends cinema, architecture, and dancing, will start at 6 pm and be looped for the entire evening.
