City The West Seattle Hum

Something's going on out there, says Slog tipper Jimmy:

The noise known as the West Seattle "hum" has been disrupting sleep for the past few nights in my house. It was as loud as I've ever heard it last night. The West Seattle Blog has been covering this, but I am particularly disturbed by the lack of any action on this issue.

Will fines be imposed on the culprits for repeat offenses? My patience is running out in this matter. I know that many neighbors have complained...

Please, if you can escalate this matter at all, many families and individuals will sleep well one of these nights. Thank you for your time.

Wait... rich people in West Seattle losing a little bit of sleep over a humming noise makes the headlines?

Bonus: The aroma of pulp mill emissions mixing with car exhaust tickle your nose int he morning, inciting you to rise.

I suspect that more people are noticing it now that they know what to listen for. It's probably one of those things that, once heard, can't be unheard.

As someone who lives in Des Moines, near the SeaTac approach path, my advice is that you'll just tune it out after a while. I'm essentially deaf to airplane noise at this point.

@7 that's because the cat ladies that run the WSB nuke comments from people who they disagree with. Its a pearl clutching feedback loop. Its also a mostly functional police scanner, so ymmv.
