It's time for the disappearing act. I don't mean that nobody will see Mitt Romney between now and Election Day. With two weeks left, of course Romney is going to do a bunch of rallies and appear in TV commercials, but he's probably not going to do any interviews, according to Politico's James Hohmann:

The Romney campaign is not committing to granting any network interviews in the final two weeks of the campaign.

Romney is so awkward in interviews that the chances for a fuckup are huge. The campaign is dealing with this by hiding him in plain sight, away from any opportunity for spontaneity. It's a risky move, because the press gets pissed when they feel like a candidate is being kept from them, but the Romney campaign probably figures they can survive for fourteen days without feeling a dejected media's wrath. President Obama is already slated for two major interviews this week. We'll see if voters notice that Mitt Romney basically turned into a hologram after the last debate.
