Booze / Chow Happiest Hour: Regent Bakery & Cafe

Description: Regent Bakery & Cafe is a sprawling wonderland kitty-corner from Spinasse and Artusi on Capitol Hill. Imparting a certain clipped elegance, the room is spotless, window-lined, and outfitted with much newness and coordination. You'll also find: overhead menus for coffee and bubble tea ($3, add 50 cents for pudding grass jelly); glass display cases lined with fancy desserts, their precise garnishes resembling mythical jewels (caramel mousse for $3.85); shelves for trillions of Chinese baked goods that look delicious, so you might as well just get them all (coconut bun $1.50, sausage bun $1.70, pear croissant $2.30); a sleek little cocktail lounge with granite counters, colorful lights, and a bartender happy to discuss the hilarious brutality of Yelp restaurant reviews with you; booths and tables everywhere because there's also a full-ass Chinese restaurant (almond chicken $10.95); and perhaps the same guy from a couple Friday nights ago—the well-dressed one with the shrieky voice, who was recalling some disaster involving a collapsing bridge.

Happy-hour drink specials: $5 select cocktails—the Grape Nehi has vodka, Chambord liqueur, fresh lemon and lime, and soda; $3 drafts—Manny's, Old Seattle Lager, Gallant Maiden Hefeweizen, more; $3.50 wells; $3.50 house wine.
