Posted by on Thu, Oct 18, 2012 at 8:39 AM

Syria Update: "Syrian fighter jets blasted the rebel-held town of Maaret al-Numan on Thursday, killing at least 44 people, rescuers said..."

Ugh: Three men have been arrested for allegedly setting a Denver bar on fire, which killed five people.

Reddit's Troll Will Be on CNN Today: Violentacres, AKA Michael Brutsch, has done an interview with CNN which will air tonight on Anderson Cooper 360°.

Meningitis Outbreak Death Toll Rises: Now 19 people have died while patients continue to call doctors with symptoms.

Yay!: An Air Canada flight assisted in finding a stranded Australian yacht and everyone was safe. Also: It'd be real weird to fly around in a Boeing 777 at 4,000 feet.

No More Newsweek: The magazine wil stop printing physical copies, and go all digital. The final print edition will be December 31.

Dudes! Take a Vitamin: A long-term study claims that taking a daily multivitamin has lowered an older man's chances of cancer by 8%.

Another Downtown Shooting: The victim was discovered after getting on a bus at Third and Pine, but he refused to tell cops what happened. He was taken to Harborview with non-life-threatening injuries.

The fire didn't kill those 5 people, it was set to cover the murders and who was that older man with the lowered chance of getting cancer?

I love that I can tell if Megan wrote up the morning news based on hockey coverage and outrage over the lockout.

Also, fuck the league and its releasing of their offer. Offers are not supposed to be released to the public and particularly not before the other side has been able to make their counter offer. It was a dick move by the league to bully the NHLPA to make a deal. Fuck Gary Bettman. I've been hoping for about 15 years that the dude would be kicked to the curb. Worst commissioner in major league sports in North America. Seriously, fuck that asshole hard.

@2 Don Fehr is just giving Bettman more rope to hang himself with. He's in way over his head this time. Just be patient.

WASHINGTON DC (AP) — Weekly applications for U.S. unemployment benefits jumped 46,000 last week to 388,000, the highest in four months.

but yet Slog doesn't see fit to post the news at all.

we seem to recall the Girls at Slog wetting their panties last month when the numbers were down....
(artificially down because California held back some numbers....)

Who is calling Whom a Journalistic WHORE?....

Still beating that Sawant horse, I see. I spoke to her opponent the other day and he told me that her proposal for the State of Washington to take ownership of Boeing and Microsoft was going to have trouble attracting votes in the legislature. Like "get out of my office and never speak to me again" trouble.
