Tagg Romney Wishes He Could've Tagg'd President Obama

Posted by on Wed, Oct 17, 2012 at 6:54 PM

Who would've thought that someone named Tagg would be a huge asshole?

Bill LuMay, WPTF talk radio: What is it like for you to hear the President of the United States call your dad a liar?

Tagg Romney: Well, you want to jump out of your seat and rush down to the debate stage and take a swing at him.

If Tagg Romney is going to hit everyone who calls his dad a liar, he's going to be awfully busy for the next thirty years or so. He might have to start taking swings at folks on Twitter, too:

People who have relatives in politics should have thicker skin.

Next debate: Obama girls vs. Romney boys in a cage match. Two well-to-do bloodlines enter, one bloodline leaves. My money is on the girls.

Aww come on. He gave what was probably an honest answer and didn't hit anyone....Mitt Romney is his father and that's how he felt about it. He didn't make his father run for president and is under no obligation to grow a thick skin.

I don't see anything to get upset about here.

@5 - There's a huge difference between honest and mature. That was the answer of a grown-ass, educated man who thinks it's okay to threaten violence against your daddy's political opponents.

Silly little trust fund baby. He wouldn't last a second in the Kennedy family.

If you can't win with the substance hold them down and change them to your liking, like father like son.

Mormons try to portray themselves as harmless, but here you see a prime example of just how violent they really are.

Tagg is short for Taggart. Common Mormon name, some netfolk say. The fact that the protagonist of Atlas Shrugged is named Dagny Taggart is Just A Coincidence, I'm Sure.

With aggressive impulses like that it is surprising that he never served in the military.
Oh, wait. His daddy has millions of dollars. Never mind.
Maybe if Romney did not lie so much ...

@12 Indeed.

Isn't Tagg Romney the one who was advocating against a hospice being built in his neighborhood because he didn't want property values to decrease - even after he had attempted to develop that same land into something other than a single-family home? It was on Slog awhile back.

Gee, you wonder where he gets it.

Well, obviously the question unnerved him. That's why I don't think it's a very idea for candidates bringing in all their kin folk to the circus.

Can you blame him? If my name was Tagg, I'd be an angry person too. Really angry.

@5 Uh-huh. Ask yourself if Sasha or Malia had said the same thing. You know Bill-O & Rush and the rest of the shriek machine would be screaming about it for years to come.

The point is that republicans feel entitled to absolute control of America, and feel insulted when anyone dare suggest otherwise. This incident is just another flower off of that tree.

If he were truly like his Dad, he would rush down there and cut off Obama's hair rather than hitting him.

@8: I don't think that's a good comparison.

Many people don't survive the Kennedy family: Mary Kennedy, the estranged wife of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.; Rosemary Kennedy who had a frontal lobotomy against her will; and last but least Mary Jo Kopechne.

So how did Tagg feel when, in the first debate, his father said his five sons were congenital liars?

I think it's a pretty telling response on a lot of levels.

He says his two reasons for not assaulting the President of the US on live television are both essentially the same - because he couldn't get away with it. Not that assault is wrong, or that mature people rise about such things. Just purely and simply because he couldn't get away with it.

And, he's focused entirely on the fact that Obama was saying that his father wasn't telling the truth, and how mad that made him. Not a peep out of him about whether or not his father actually was lying.

So, in his world, there is no right or wrong. Just calculation, entitlement, and whether or not you can get away with it.

There's a shock.

Ugh, who gives a fuck. Y'all starting to get too excited over really silly shit.

This thread is a roll call of dumb Slog tropes; from "we have to be outraged because the right would be poutraged" @18, to the self righteous arm chair analysis of @28.

Everyone is taking themselves waaaaay to seriously and it's just fucking boring.

I'll see you fuckers after the election.

'Poutraged' : Taking something silly and trivial and elevating it to be an outrageous offense. "Bill O'Reilley noticed that the Christmas decorations did not have enough baby Jesus, and immediately became poutraged."

If he's so concerned with people calling his dad a liar maybe he should talk to his dad about his lying problem.

BTW, am I the only one who really really hopes that Tagg runs out on the stage to take a swing at Obama at the next debate? The best outcome of that would be if Obama parried the attack and threw the little weasel to the ground. The second best outcome would be if the secret service took him down.
