George Romney's Advisor Calls Mitt Romney Unfit for Command

Posted by on Mon, Oct 15, 2012 at 3:20 PM

For someone as desperate to live up to his dad's legacy as Mitt is, these words—“erratic and startling”—have to sting:

Walter De Vries, who worked for the senior Mr. Romney throughout the 1960s, wrote that Mitt Romney’s bid for the White House was “a far cry from the kind of campaign and conduct, as a public servant, I saw during the seven years I worked in George Romney’s campaigns and served him as governor.”

“While it seems that Mitt would say and do anything to close a deal – or an election,” he wrote, “George Romney’s strength as a politician and public officeholder was his ability and determination to develop and hold consistent policy positions over his life.”

Go read De Vries's whole memo at the New York Times.

I was. Bring back the Rambler. (I'll settle for a Hurst SC/Rambler or a Javelin AMX or a Marlin.)

Am I the only one who is tired of these "touche" type comments of the ironic sort.

"Well, Mitt Romney says he's against Government...but then...I saw him using...a postage stamp!"

"Barack Obama says he supports our troops...but, how come when he was driving in his limousine he was playing the song Sky Pilot, which is...anti-war!!"

"Paul Ryan says he is for a balanced budget...but then he went out and got his kids deluxe Applebee's. How can you afford that...AND balance the budget!"

@2 - If bringing back the Rambler is anything like bringing back the Dodge Dart, I hope they don't bother. It'd be just another Taurus with different tail-lights.

This post had a shred of legitimacy right up until the "at the New York Times".

Of course, the author is 83 and cranial plaque might have a role to play in his fondness for Obama, whom he supported in 2008.

Come on, Paul. Of course he's unfit for command but this is crap. Substance, please.
