Seagulls Are Ugly Swallowers

While passing a feeding frenzy in Little Saigon, I noticed for the first time in my life, a life that has been spent in the human-dense cores of cities, that the thick throats of seagulls, the kings and queens of the synanthropic birds, bizarrely, horribly distend when swallowing.

Fucking seagulls man. I was on my way to Mecca this morning for, erm, breakfast, and a woman from Roti (an Indian restaurant) came out and started feeding nan to some pigeons and seagulls. What the fuck is wrong with this city.

Seagulls are a beacon of hope for wayward sailors and the constant companions of those of us who spent far, far too much time on the shores doing things like fishing.

If I find myself in a rush, eating a fast food lunch in a parking lot, or find myself down at say Ivars on the waterfront, I always, always make a point of feeding at least one of the charming little greedy bastards.

On my way to work yesterday, I saw a seagull carrying half a bird carcass. That was creepy.

They were here first. Consider yourself synlaridaeic.

I noticed that the sky was blue which must mean God hasn't jerked off enough lately.

Birds have crops. Has nothing to do with their degree of association with humans. Also unrelated to judgmental labels like "gluttony." Get over it.

The birds in the picture are... not Seagulls.

I once saw seagulls on the wing taking Cheetos from a woman's fingers' on the Bermerton ferry. They'd come from the bow, drop down into the slip stream from the hull and sweep up in a big arc to the upper deck, coming to the same velocity as the boat right at the woman's hand. They'd hover just long enough to pluck the Cheeto and wheel away. The kept doing it, perfectly every time, until the Cheetos were gone. They are just amazing in their element.

Mostly pigeons, yes, @7, but a gull aloft and one to the back on the ground (gray color). Plus a half-dozen crows.
