Not Live Slogging Tonight's US Senate Debate

Posted by on Fri, Oct 12, 2012 at 5:36 PM

There's a US Senate debate tonight at 7pm on KCTS Channel 9 between incumbent Democratic US Senator Maria Cantwell and some other person. (Bumgardener? Barngrattin? Something like that. I suppose I could Google it, but it doesn't seem worth the effort.)

Anyway, I don't intend to watch it, let alone live Slog it, and as far as I know, nobody else at The Stranger intends to watch it either. Because, quite frankly, we'd entirely forgotten there even was a US Senate race in Washington State this year.

UPDATE: Oops. Turns out the debate is pre-recorded. Already happened earlier today. I think. That's just how disinterested we are.

She has someone running against her? I take it this unknown person is just meeting her to concede the election tonight?

You sure you want to forget about it when she opposes 502?

You're using "disinterested" incorrectly. You surely mean "uninterested." Here's a pneumonic - you want a disinterested judge, not an uninterested one.

Anything regarding the Senate requires 60% of electorate to be interested in it before it qualifies for telfication.

Maria Cantwell is campaigning?

Who knew?

Baumgartner is actually a nice person and seemed quite intelligent (amazing since he's a Republican), but running against Cantwell is just suicidal. She's our permanent Senator.

Maria Cantwell gave George W. Bush authorization to invade Iraq for no reason. I will never vote for her.

Cantwell couldn't even bring herself to come out against more coal train terminals.

She gave some wishy-washy answer about more terminals being good for Washington exports in general.

I think she said we should be trying to export green technology to China, but said nothing in the way of opposing coal exports, as far as I recall.
