Good Job, Whatshertits (Barbara Kruger)

You know how it can feel weird as a woman when your body parts, set next to some dude's, are bigger? You know how the next thought can be, "I must be the wrong size"? (I'm not countenancing this line of thinking, just acknowledging it.)

That's one thing this big shouty Barbara Kruger piece at SAM is about. Elles opens tonight. But the opening is sold out. So it opens tomorrow.

My love for Barbara Kruger is as close to unconditional as I'm likely ever to get.

"Big muscles" and "ayatollah" reminds me of the VP debate last night...

"The visual is sorely undervalued in modern scholarship. Art history has attained only a fraction of the conceptual sophistication of literary criticism. … Drunk with self-love, criticism has hugely overestimated the centrality of language to western culture. It has failed to see the electrifying sign language of images." Camille Paglia
