Approve R74! Reject Santorum! Community Conversation
Community Town Hall in Seattle

As former US Senator Rick Santorum appears at large fundraisers for opponents of Referendum 74 today and tomorrow in Spokane and Bellevue, Washington United for Marriage is holding an event Wednesday to show the stark contrast between Santorum’s extremism and widely-held Washington values of freedom and fairness for everyone. Wednesday evening’s event features remarks by Washington Senator Patty Murray, who served with Santorum in the US Senate. The former senator and presidential candidate is widely known for his attacks on gay and lesbian people and their families, from his failed sponsorship of two constitutional amendments to ban same-sex marriage, to describing it as the "ultimate homeland security" issue. His appearances in Spokane and Bellevue are closed to the press.

Community leaders will join Referendum 74 supporters to discuss marriage equality for all loving, committed couples; and the extreme views of Senator Rick Santorum. Special Guests: US Senator Patty Murray; King County Executive Dow Constantine; Lacey All, Chair, Washington United for Marriage; Peter Aaron, Owner, Elliot Bay Book Co.; WUM TV ad stars Robin and Steve Boehler; and WUM campaign manager Zach Silk.

Seattle First Baptist Church, 1111 Harvard Avenue. Doors open at 6:00 pm, program starts at 6:30 pm.
