The Benefits of the Peruvian Prison System

Posted by on Mon, Oct 8, 2012 at 12:28 PM

CNN:

It appears Joran van der Sloot is about to add a new role to his résumé - father.

Van der Sloot became well-known around the world for the murder of Stephany Flores in Peru and for being arrested twice, but never charged, in the 2005 disappearance of U.S. teenager Natalee Holloway in Aruba.

Now the Dutch citizen may be preparing to welcome a new child into the world while he is serving 28 years in a Peruvian prison for Flores' death, according to the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf, which says it confirmed the news over the phone with van der Sloot himself.

As a part of his punishment, Van der Sloot is allowed to meet his girlfriend twice a month.

BUT ALLOWING PRISONERS HEALTHY HUMAN CONTACT ISN'T DEHUMANIZING ENOUGH

@1 Who wants to be his child? Ew. He's a murderer. Maybe if he killed your daughter you'd feel differently.

I'm not generally in favor of forced sterilization or forced abortion but...

@2 he's serving 28 years. He'll likely be a part of society again before he dies of natural causes. When he's finally released, do you want him to be reformed and get a normal job, not commit anymore crimes, and die quietly --or-- be vengeful and keep disappearing random young girls?

The question is, what's the type that wants to be his girlfriend/baby momma?

@4,
Agree with you. Conjugal rights are available in some prison systems. We can quibble whether that's a "right" or not. But, "what's the type that wants to be his girlfriend/baby momma?"
is a very good question.

Sigh.

@4 He will still be a murderer and he will murder again. Serial murderers are never cured.
