NOM Urges You to "Vote Catholic"

Posted by on Fri, Oct 5, 2012 at 10:08 AM

NOM's BDOT—"biggest douche on Twitter"—wants you to "vote Catholic."

NOM's BDOT apparently isn't looking at the polls:

President Obama's support among Catholic voters has surged since June, according to a new poll, despite a summer that included the Catholic bishops' religious freedom campaign and the naming of Rep. Paul Ryan, a Catholic, as the GOP's vice-presidential candidate. On June 17, Obama held a slight edge over Mitt Romney among Catholics (49-47 percent), according to the Pew Research Center. Since then, Obama has surged ahead, and now leads 54-39 percent, according to a Pew poll...

Yes, please! Vote with the majority of American Catholics!

@1 - It is unfortunate/hilarious that "Papist" is just one short line from being "Rapist".

Which just goes to show you that Catholics don't listen to anything the Catholic Church has to say.

I guess they forgot that the Catholic Church is into social justice issues like more programs for the poor and an easier time for immigrants.

Yes, let's protect religious liberty. Including the liberty to not have someone else's religious beliefs dictate our laws. Funny how they don't consider themselves "free" unless they have unencumbered rights to shit on the freedoms of others.

Please tell this to more Mormons.

Vote like which Catholics? The bishops who are outraged that Obama isn't letting them force their faith on those that don't share it, or the nuns, who are outraged at Romney/Ryan policies that will hurt the poor?

As a total outsider, "vote Catholic" evokes "don't vote Mormon" a lot more than "don't vote Protestant"...

As for the message, it makes me think of Democrats more a lot more than of Republicans :

"Religious liberty protection" evokes fighting Tea Party, this notorious anti-religious liberty subgroup whom Republicans have ganged up with.

"Marriage protection" evokes letting more people marry, as opposed to living in free union - so yes, let's make all those homosexual marriages happen.

"All life protection" also points strongly away from voting for Republicans, who are always so eager :
* to have poor people being let die, either from overwork, illness or hunger
* to have women not being offered easy access to life-saving woman-health medical care
* to make massive invasive wars to foreign countries in which loads of foreign civilians die (and soldiers of both sides - but dying is part of what being a soldier is about), on the pretense of hunting one man -- as opposed to actually hunt that man down, by using some helicopters and a handfull of well-prepared soldiers
* and the list goes on... would Romney protect lifes like Trayvon Martin's ? He famously stated that he didn't have a care for 47% of the US population... and what about the death penalty ?
* and as for "life in the womb", there would be so less abortions if sensible contraception was taught in schools ! Contraception also protects women's quality of life - and prevents living in abject poverty.

Please stop calling these people douches. I think of a douche something clean and freshening, something that washes away old sweat and secretions and allows me to enjoy NEW sweat and secretions. I don't want to think of Pawl Wryin' or Mittens as I fill my rubber bag with warm water.

Call them middens, or call them scum, or call them slime, but stop being nice!

Recent polls show that close to 60% of U.S. non-Hispanic Catholics support marriage equality. I do believe I will "vote Catholic."
